“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” Psalm 40:2 Inspiration happens in the most unexpected places at the most unexpected moments. God never ceases to amaze! While out taking pictures with the children, i had found something interesting on the creek rock that i thought would make a good picture but i ended up instead getting a picture of Rachel’s feet. At first i was disappointed but upon closer observation, God brought Psalm 40:2 to mind. Wow!! God does have a way of getting His point across. And sometimes what seems to be disappointment may actually be a blessing in disguise!

Can we Keep Him?

As the kids and i explored and played around the creek last evening Rachel and her brothers found this baby turtle. It didn’t take long before they were asking that question all kids ask when they find something cool, “Can we keep him?”! Before i could even answer, Rachel had already named him. Of course my reply was, “We will have to ask your Daddy.”. With turtle in tow, we went in search of Jeremy. When we found him he knew immediately something was up by the way the kids excited chatter filled the air. One look at the tiny amphibean and he, too, knew what was coming next. “Can we keep him, Daddy? Mama said to ask you.” First, he studied the turtle. Then he looked to Rachel. It was his turn to ask questions. “Do you know how to take care of a turtle? What will you feed him?” Rachel didn’t know how to answer either question. “Maybe you should do some research.” And that is just what she did…after finding temporary quarters for the little guy. With a little google search, Rachel found the information she needed to house and feed a turtle. Armed with her new found knowledge, she asked again, “Can we keep him?” So that is how we came to be at Wal Mart at 8:30 last night; looking for a 10 gallon aquarium. By the time we found all that was needed and a few other unrelated items it was 10:00. Rachel and her brothers were too excited to notice the late hour but everyone was tired. Needless to say, the turtle slept in his temporary quarters last night. However, Rachel and her Daddy are presently setting up his new home. I think he is going to like it! By the way, the turtles name is Gary. Though Gary was not a gift for Jeremy, the time Jeremy has spent with the children making a home for Gary has been a gift and the memories from this whole experience will be the gift that keeps on giving. Happy Father’s Day, Jeremy! We love you and thank God, the Father, for giving us the Daddy He has given us in you.
